Avocado thrips can scar young avocado fruit, producing brown, scabby or leathery areas on the skin. Leaf feeding can also cause bronzing or scarring.
Don't diagnose from brown fruit alone
Sunburn, greenhouse thrips, mechanical injury and other disorders can also discolor or scar avocado fruit. Examine where damage occurs and whether insects are present.
