Bumble bees need reliable flowering resources over a long season, not a single short bloom.
Build floral diversity
Use native plants with different flower shapes and staggered bloom periods. Ceanothus, buckwheats, sages and other regionally appropriate natives can contribute.
Protect habitat
Avoid unnecessary insecticide use and preserve suitable nesting and overwintering habitat where practical.
