MEET THE FOUNDER
Hi, I’m Kevan.
I’ve pretty much built my life around plants.
What started as a fascination with growing things turned into school, nursery work, farmers markets, teaching, and eventually years spent working on landscapes throughout Southern California.
I studied horticulture and landscape at Saddleback College, earning my associate degree and certificates through the program. After that, I spent more than two years at Laguna Hills Nursery working under Gary Matsuoka.
But a lot of what I know came from being outside doing the work: planting trees, troubleshooting irrigation, improving soil, pruning, dealing with pests, growing food, watching plants fail, watching them thrive, and coming back season after season to see what actually worked.
I wanted to build the kind of landscape company I believed should exist.
WHY EARTH PEOPLE
Plants first. The whole property in mind.
I wanted Earth People to understand plants, respect the soil and environment, use water thoughtfully, and look at the whole property instead of treating every problem separately.
Today that might mean helping with one struggling citrus tree, figuring out an irrigation problem, planning an orchard, choosing California natives, improving soil or thinking through an entire property.
I still love the same part most: walking a property, noticing what other people might miss, and figuring out how to make it better.

MORE THAN A BUSINESS
I’m a husband and a dad to three kids.
That matters to the way I see this work.
I don’t just see a yard as landscaping. It’s where families spend their lives. Kids play there. Friends gather there. You pick fruit from a tree you planted years earlier. Birds, butterflies and bees show up. It becomes part of your home.
Better soil. Better plants. Better places to live.
That’s what Earth People means to me.

Most weeks I’m somewhere between fruit trees, irrigation systems, plant-health problems, native landscapes and homeowners trying to make sense of a bigger property plan. That variety is exactly why I still enjoy doing this.
