Lemon trees can drop leaves after irrigation stress, root problems, weather changes, pest pressure or other cultural issues. The timing and condition of the fallen leaves help narrow the possibilities.
Check water first
Inspect soil moisture below the surface and confirm that emitters are actually reaching the active root zone. Both prolonged saturation and severe drying can stress citrus.
Inspect new growth and leaf undersides
Look for leafminer trails, scale, aphids, mites, honeydew and unusual mottling. Photograph symptoms before pruning away evidence.
