Ground-nesting bees
Many native bees nest in soil. Leaving selected sunny, well-drained patches free of landscape fabric and heavy mulch can preserve potential nesting habitat.
Cavity nesters
Some species use hollow or pithy stems and existing cavities. Overly aggressive cleanup can remove these resources.
Protect nests from pesticides
Habitat creation works best alongside identification-based IPM rather than routine broad-spectrum insecticide use.
