Keep plants with similar irrigation requirements together. Mixing thirsty ornamentals with low-water natives on one valve makes efficient irrigation difficult.
Establishment still requires water
California native does not mean newly planted shrubs can be abandoned. Establishment irrigation helps roots expand before watering is reduced.
