Leaves that look as though they were peppered with tiny holes may have shot hole disease, also called Coryneum blight.
What it looks like
UC IPM describes small reddish or purplish spots that expand, turn brown in the center and may drop out, leaving holes. Fruit and twigs can also develop lesions.
Moisture matters
Splashing water and prolonged wetness favor infection. Irrigation that repeatedly wets foliage can contribute to disease conditions.
