Our approach is not simply to clear everything. We selectively remove accumulated dead material, dry brush, weeds, unwanted volunteer growth, low limbs and crowded vegetation while preserving valuable trees and landscape character. Replace High-Maintenance Plants with California Natives
After cleanup, we can redesign bare or problem areas using California native and climate-adapted plants selected for the site. Many native species can fit a fire-conscious landscape when they are appropriately selected, spaced, irrigated during establishment and maintained by removing dead material.
No plant is fireproof. Fire behavior depends on plant condition, spacing, moisture, maintenance, surrounding fuels, weather and site conditions. We design with those factors in mind rather than relying on a simple “fire-resistant plant” label.
Possible California native choices
Depending on the property, sun, slope, irrigation and local requirements, a palette may include lower-growing sages, buckwheats, yarrow, California fuchsia, selected ceanothus, manzanitas and other regionally appropriate species. Final plant selection and placement should be matched to the site and current local defensible-space requirements.
