Clogged Drip Emitter — Causes, Cleaning & System Diagnosis
Clogged Drip Emitter — Causes, Cleaning & System Diagnosis
A clogged emitter can quietly deprive a tree or plant of water even while the irrigation zone appears to be operating normally.
What Can Cause It?
Mineral buildup, debris, damaged filters, pressure problems, biological material and aging emitters can reduce or stop flow. Repeated clogging can indicate a broader filtration or water-quality issue.
What to Check First
Look for obvious leaks or broken components and note which zones are affected. Avoid repeatedly increasing runtime to compensate for a mechanical or distribution problem; that can waste water and overwater other parts of the zone.
Earth People Irrigation Diagnosis
We evaluate the controller, zone operation, valves, pressure, sprinklers or drip components, coverage, runoff and the water needs of the plants served by the zone. For fruit trees, we also check whether the number and placement of emitters still match the expanding root zone.
