What Can Cause It?

Possible signs include persistently wet soil, yellowing, leaf drop, weak growth, algae or mushrooms, root decline and plants wilting despite wet soil. Drainage, soil type, season and species all matter.

What to Check First

Look for obvious leaks or broken components and note which zones are affected. Avoid repeatedly increasing runtime to compensate for a mechanical or distribution problem; that can waste water and overwater other parts of the zone.
