Jefferson Hazelnut
A selected European hazelnut cultivar for unusual backyard nut orchards.
Can you grow it in South Orange County?
A challenging trial for much of Orange County, as winter chilling and summer heat requirements differ from typical warm-climate fruit crops. Choose a cooler suitable microclimate and manage irrigation carefully.
What to expect and pollination
Requires a genetically compatible hazelnut pollinizer with overlapping pollen shed and receptive bloom. Single-tree nut production should not be promised. Actual age, height, canopy shape and fruiting status vary by nursery specimen. We confirm approximate dimensions and growing form during sourcing.
Planting and care
Site selection, soil drainage, establishment watering, organic mulch and appropriate seasonal pruning are important. Earth People Landcare can help design a suitable planting area and arrange professional installation, irrigation and follow-up plant care.
Reserve your plant
Plants are sourced on request from our nursery network. The online listing is a reservation inquiry, not a representation of guaranteed on-hand stock. We verify availability, cost and plant health before requesting payment. Delivery and installation are additional.
