The Lapins sweet cherry (Prunus avium 'Lapins') is a premium, self-fertile variety renowned for its large, dark red fruit and exceptional flavor. Developed in British Columbia, Canada, by breeder Karlis O. Lapins, this cultivar is a hybrid of the 'Van' and 'Stella' cherries, combining the best traits of both parents.


🍒 Fruit Characteristics

  • Size & Appearance: Produces large, firm cherries with a deep red to almost black skin.

  • Flavor: Sweet, juicy, and slightly tart, making them ideal for fresh eating, baking, and preserving.

  • Ripening Period: Typically ripens in mid to late summer, around July 

  • Resistance: Exhibits good resistance to cracking and diseases, ensuring a reliable harvest .
