Siskiyou Blue Fescue — Festuca 'Siskiyou Blue'

Festuca 'Siskiyou Blue', commonly sold as Festuca idahoensis 'Siskiyou Blue'

A compact ornamental bunchgrass with chalky blue foliage. Its rounded tufts bring contrast to rock gardens and naturalistic borders.

Southern California growing guide

• Light: Full sun near the coast; light or afternoon shade inland.
• Mature size: Foliage approximately 10–18 inches tall. Flower stems rise above the clump; allow room for individual tufts to broaden.
• Water & drought: Drought tolerant once established, with occasional irrigation according to heat and soil. Water more consistently during establishment.
• Soil: Adaptable with good drainage; avoid prolonged saturation.
• Growth: Evergreen clumping perennial that gradually broadens. It does not form an even, spreading turf.
• Habitat: Adds low grass cover. Wind-pollinated flowers do not provide floral nectar.
• Maintenance: Remove dry blades and spent flower stems. Divide aging clumps occasionally to renew their appearance.
• Landscape uses: Edging, rock gardens, ornamental meadow mixes and small groupings between shrubs. Keep foot traffic on adjacent paths.
