Fruit & pollination
Self-fruitful.
Check bloom overlap before choosing a partner. Chill estimates describe winter cooling, not frost hardiness; coastal and inland Orange County sites differ.
Understand your rootstock
This listing does not identify a named rootstock. We will confirm the grafted stock with the nursery; do not assume the tree uses the same stock as other Santa Rosa plums. Rootstock can affect size, soil adaptation and anchorage. Read our fruit-tree rootstock guide.
Sun, soil & irrigation
Full sun, drainage, seasonal thinning, careful pruning and attention to bloom overlap with compatible pollinizers.
Planting your bare-root tree
- Keep roots cool, shaded and moist until prompt planting.
- Spread roots naturally in a wide hole. Set the root flare at finished grade and keep any graft union above the soil.
- Backfill, water thoroughly and add mulch clear of the trunk. Avoid fertilizer-heavy backfill and waterlogged soil.
Your first year
Focus on roots and branch structure. Check moisture regularly, adjust irrigation with weather, remove rootstock suckers, and follow species-appropriate pruning and fruit-thinning guidance. Meaningful crops may take several growing seasons.
