Two ways to start
For homeowners
Transition a backyard, fruit-tree collection or estate garden to a clearly defined no-pesticide maintenance plan. Start with a property review and prioritized improvements.
- Irrigation and drainage assessment
- Soil and plant health review
- Mulch and appropriate planting
- Hand and mechanical weed management
- Seasonal monitoring and reporting
For HOAs and community spaces
Develop a documented pilot for entrances, greenbelts, play-adjacent landscapes or shared planting beds, with realistic budgets and clear maintenance expectations.
- Existing-product and maintenance inventory
- Site-specific pilot and transition plan
- Staff and contractor operating guidelines
- Resident communication and reporting
- Progress metrics and review dates
What “pesticide-free” means here
Our proposed pesticide-free scope uses no pesticide products—including products marketed as organic or natural—to control pests in the designated areas. We prioritize prevention, plant selection, sanitation, monitoring, physical controls, hand removal and mechanical methods. If a situation presents a legal requirement or a significant safety or plant-health issue that cannot be addressed within the agreed scope, we discuss options and obtain authorization before any change. We do not promise to eliminate all pests, weeds or disease.
Our five-part transition process
- Audit: review plants, soil, irrigation, existing pesticide records and recurring problems.
- Plan: set property-specific standards, priorities, work boundaries and expectations.
- Improve: correct water stress, protect soil, select appropriate plants and implement nonchemical controls.
- Maintain: schedule regular observations, pruning, sanitation, hand/mechanical weed work and seasonal adjustments.
- Report: track pesticide applications (target: zero in designated areas), weed pressure, plant health, water use where measurable, labor and costs.
Why we're starting locally
Families and residents in Ladera Ranch have raised questions about pesticide practices and childhood cancer diagnoses. The California Department of Public Health is assessing cancer incidence, and no environmental cause has been established. We support careful scientific inquiry and transparent landscape-management decisions—not claims of a proven causal connection.
Meanwhile, residents and organizations including Creek Team OC have called for alternatives to herbicide use in waterways. Orange County is evaluating manual and mechanical vegetation removal in San Juan and Trabuco creeks. These examples remind us that homeowners and property managers can take practical, measurable steps on land they control.

Pricing and consultation
Each property has different acreage, plant material, weed pressure, access and expectations. We quote the pesticide-free transition and ongoing care after assessing the site. Professional soil testing, if recommended, starts at $300 and is priced separately from maintenance or implementation.
